Ross Creek Reserve and it's Historic Reservoir
Some of the most used walking tracks in Dunedin are located in this reserve. The valve tower and dam which were built in 1867 are the oldest reservoir still used in New Zealand and is under a level I classification with New Zealand History. There is also a permanent kayak polo area (which freezes over in winter), and a permanent orienteering course. Located in the reserve is also a man made waterfall (click to open school creek falls), and some very nice picnic areas. This place is suitable for every family member and there are several days of exploring here, including glow worms at night if you know where to look.
